The station was founded in 1981 and is located in Farmville, VA.

6 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF
VAB AWARDS

From 2009 to 2014, WMLU has won Outstanding Sports Coverage for a non-commercial/public radio station every year from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.

In 2010, WMLU won runner up for Best Promotion for a Sponsored Event.

In 2011, WMLU won first place in Best Promotion for a Sponsored Event.

BANDFEST

Every spring semester, WMLU hosts a day-long music festival, featuring famous bands.
Previous bands have included Regina Spektor, Reel Big Fish, We the Kings, The Used, and The Fray.
BANDFEST occurs on the Friday of Longwood University's Spring Weekend event.
